International standards such as those from IEC, ISO and ITU are crucial for increasing efficiency. This issue has come to the forefront as global challenges like sustainability and financial uncertainty mean that organizations are challenged to achieve better results with less waste.    
New ISO standard on project management  
With pressure on business for faster and cheaper results, a new ISO standard for good practice in project management will increase efficiency and maximize the effect of investments ISO 21500:2012, Guidance on project management, can be used by any type of organization, including public, private or community organizations, and for any type of project, irrespective of complexity, size and duration.    
Seminar on the Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs Geneva, November 8, 2012  
The seminar will be conducted by staff of WIPO and an invited speaker. It aims at increasing awareness and practical knowledge of the system among actual and potential users, whether in industry or in private practice and focuses on the needs of independent and in house industrial property agents (paralegals as well as attorneys) who file applications for international industrial design registrations and who administer such registrations. It will cover all aspects of the Hague system, including legal and practical matters (main features and advantages of the system, different procedures, etc.) as well as the latest trends in the field of international industrial design registration.    
Training Seminar “Understanding ISO26000-Social Responsibility”  
In response to the business challenge of finding solutions that will help our professional careers and the success of our businesses in international markets, Close The Loop is conducting a training seminar for the voluntary International Standard ISO26000: 2010. The seminar will be held on October 4, 2012 in Athens, Greece and delivered by experts Panagiotis Panagiotakopoulos and Irene Daskalakis.    
World manufacturing growth down in 2011, according to the latest UNIDO Industrial Statistics Yearbook  
The rate of world manufacturing output growth decelerated in 2011, amid fears of a double-dip recession due to the instability of financial markets, especially in euro-zone countries. The total of world manufacturing value added (MVA) also dropped, compared to the previous year.

ISO 22301, the world’s first international standard for Business Continuity Management just released  
ISO 22301, the world’s first international standard for Business Continuity Management (BCM), has been developed to help organizations minimize the risk of such disruptions. ISO has officially launched ISO 22301, “Societal security - Business continuity management systems – Requirements”, the new international standard for Business Continuity Management System (BCMS). This standard will replace the current British standard BS25999.    
Rio+20: UN Conference on Sustainable Development kicks off with call to action  
More than 100 Heads of State and government today gathered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the start of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), which seeks to shape new policies to promote global prosperity, reduce poverty and advance social equity and environmental protection.    
Rio+20: Ban announces more than 100 commitments on sustainable energy  
Speaking at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced that more than one hundred commitments and actions have been already mobilized in support of the UN’s global sustainable energy initiative. “Achieving sustainable energy for all is not only possible, but necessary – it is the golden thread that connects development, social inclusion and environmental protection,” Secretary-General Ban said at a press conference at Rio+20, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
